Bulgarian Hand Drawn Icon of Saint George. The icon is hand painted on wood in Byzantine style. The saint is depicted sitting, wearing a soldier's armor, a shield on his back, a spear in his right hand and a sword in his left hand. A gold ingot was used in the making. Material - wood, tempera. Condition - very good. Origin - Tryavna / Bulgaria. Period - second half of the 20th century. Dimensions - 35 x 25.5 x 2 cm. Saint George the Victorious is one of the most revered saints, a martyr for the Christian faith and a symbol of unquestioning faith, spirit and courage. The icon is very beautiful.
