Excellent Japanese Meiji (19thC) bronze incense burner Okami and sake barrel. Signed. Measures 21cm x 15cm x 15cm high, weight 2.75kg.

Okame (Otafuku) means ‘tortoise’ and is a lucky symbol for long life. She is represented as a lovely, smiling Japanese woman who brings happiness and good fortune to any man she marries. Okame is also known as the Goddess of Mirth.
