J-B Emile DROPSY broke with the family tradition which seemed to want to make all Dropsys marble workers. Indeed, his father and grandfather exercised this profession. In the eighteenth century, there were numerous Dropsy marble workers, several worked for the Royal Court, and one of them, calling himself a master marble sculptor, became director of the Academy of Saint-Luc.
