海藻纹、铁制入土宗则、金银镶嵌、松林唐子纹章镂空 - 铁(铸/锻) - Mogarako Nyudo Munenori,藻柄子入道宗典 - 日本 - Edo Period (1600-1868)

This is an iron tsuba decorated with gold and silver inlays made during the Edo period. Tsuba is a type of ``sword fitting'' that is the exterior of a sword, and is a metal fitting that is sandwiched between the ``sheath'' and the ``blade.'' Munenori Kitagawa was a swordsmith who was active in the middle of the Edo period during the Jokyo-Kanen era (1684-1750), according to the year of his work. The first Munenori's birth and death dates are unknown, but he is said to have been from Kyoto Hachiman-cho, and is said to have been called Hidenori. Since he depended on the Kawakita clan, a samurai of the Hikone domain, he took the surname Kitagawa and called himself Munenori. The year of birth and death of the second generation Munenori is unknown; he was also called Kita, and his name was Mogarako. His designs were almost the same as those of his father, and he left behind many fine works such as ``Dosaku Rexen Yuugizu'' and ``Soldiers Battle Illustrations'', which were inlaid with high-carving inlays, colored illustrations, and watermarks carved on meat-carved ground. Munenori's works were highly praised, the more counterfeits of him were made. The pine forest Karako crest watermark is a very wonderful work. Condition is good. Size: 7.7cm x 8.1cm x 0.6cm Weight: 108g
