Beautiful, tall six-panel byôbu 屏風 (folding screen) covered with oxidized silver leaf displaying a delicate goldish hue. Silver leaf continuously undergoes the process of oxidation, which creates a beautiful aged patina.
The screen is bordered by two brocade silk trims – a slender vibrant blue one and a broad dark blue one Protected by a sturdy vermillion red lacquered wooden frame.
In Japan such tranquil and even screens are often used as a background for example vases with ikebana arrangements or other decorative or ceremonial objects.
Period: Japan – Meiji period (1868-1912).

Total width: 348.8 cm (2 x 59.6 cm and 4 x 57.4 cm); Height: 172.3 cm.
It is in a very good condition with traces of wear conform age and restorations, like some repapering in front. Please take a close look at the photos for a clear condition reference.
This room divider is very suitable to be easily mounted flat on a wall and presented as one piece of art.
