Old fine 4/4 violin, labeled Rocca Enrico fu Giuseppe premiato alle esposizioni Milano 1881 Arezzo 1882 Torino 1884 Bologna 1888 Palermo 1892 Genova 2 Medaglie 1892-93 Fecit in Genova anno Domini 1913.
The instrument is in good ready to play condition with only one small repaired f-hole crack, new rosewood pegs and new bridge.
LOB measures 356 mm. The total length of the violin is 587 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 166 mm; middle bouts: 111 mm; lower bouts: 207 mm. The top is a strong alpine spruce, straight and finely grained. The two pieces back is a strongly flamed maple with matched sides. The purfling is professionally executed, the edges are masterfully done.
