A shrunken head is a severed and specially prepared human head that is usually used as a trophy or for ritual purposes.
The best known shrunken heads were made by the indigenous people of Melanesia and the Amazon basin. The only known Amazonian tribes who still have shrunken heads are the Shuar, Achuar, Huambisa and Aguaruna.
This head sits on a re-purposed chrome plated metal base from the 1930s and has a total height of 28 cm. The stand is included.
Note: This is not a real human head, but a reproduction made of goat skin. These were also made by the Jivaro Indians.
Condition: Very good, no significant damages or repairs. Minor wear commensurate with age.
This lot will be carefully packaged and sent by registered and insured mail.
