Struck from silver seized at Vigo Bay, Spain, this coin was later hand engraved to honour the death of a loved one: "J. Brown, Obit. 20. Aug. 1820" ("J. Brown, died August 20th, 1820"). A historically important coin, both as a commemorative of a famous Royal Navy battle, and as a memento of the death of an ordinary individual over 200 years ago!
