Antique authentic hand made Moroccan tribal Koummya (Kumiyah, Koumiyya) dagger, dating back to the late 19th century to the early 20th. This dagger is mounted in heavily engraved silver of about 80-90% of silver content. Wooden handled, silver decorated dagger with a curved blade, in matching scabbard. Engravings present highly intricate handicraft work, showcasing traditional Moroccan ornaments. Condition excellent with minor surface corrosion to the blade. Total length is 41cm, blade alone is 24cm x 2.5cm. This dagger is a beautiful work of traditional North African weaponry art. Koummya is considered a regional variation of the Arabic jambiya dagger. It is characterized by contoured handles, curved double-edged blades, and exaggeratedly upturned scabbard tips. Traditionally, Koummya daggers are worn on the left side at the waist level, vertically suspended, and with the scabbard tip forward. This Koummya was acquired from a Northern Moroccan family who owned it for many generations.
