There is not a single spot where it looks like it might come off. This is an old, but brilliant piece of artwork. The flag bears the names of a very large number of people. Many of them are named "山梨 Yamanashi." These are the names of the relatives and families of soldiers who went to war, and we know that they were a large family. On the back side of the hanging scroll, there are kanji characters for "戦時記念品". This means "commemoration of winning the war. The descendants of soldiers who went to war had this scroll in their collection. Given the damage done by this flag, it is hard not to imagine the intensity of the battle in the war zone.
