Omani Silver Digg Necklace. Origin: Bedouin of central Oman Period: 1850 1950 Lovely example of true Bedouin nomad jewellery from the Wahiba region of Oman. Digg necklaces as old as this are now almost impossible to find in Oman The Digg necklace was typically worn in connection to weddings and other important celebrations The necklace includes two small Koran-boxes (hirz) on the side and two large coral beads. The central bead is covered with gold leaf. The lower part of the digg necklace consists of multiple strands of small silver beads which are twisted together in bunches and hooked to each end of the silver rod trough a large river hoop.
