A notable aspect of her collaboration with IKEA is the creation of three tapestries named "Mikkel," "Gullspira," and "Pelle," featuring images of animals (fox, goat, and rabbit) from Swedish fairy tales. This project is part of the collaboration between IKEA and UNICEF. The tapestries, handcrafted by women in India, represent a blend of small-scale and industrial production, utilizing various materials such as felt, cotton, and polyester. The IKEA-UNICEF program contributes to establishing small sewing businesses and supports women in sending their children to school in India. Jongerius chose animals as the theme due to their ability to capture the imagination, with their enigmatic yet familiar expressions akin to human emotions.
