Macchina da Scrivere Everest K2 C DELUXE 55 Cast.A. 1953 Storia: Nel 1932 sette operai della SAID (Societa’ Anonima Industrie Dattilografiche di via Friuli a Milano) decidono di investire 82.000 lire sul proprio futuro e acquistano a Crema (CR) un vecchio stabilimento dismesso, tra via del Mulino e viale Santa Maria della Croce, dove venivano prodotti chiodi per ferri di cavallo. Fondano, lo stesso anno, la Società Anonima Serio e iniziano a produrre macchine da scrivere. Il primo modello di grande successo, nel 1934, è la Everest 42 che è anche la prima macchina da scrivere al mondo ad adottare una tastiera su quattro file (invece di tre come in uso sino ad allora), definendo così uno standard che sarà universalmente adottato da tutti i produttori del mondo. Nel 1940 la Serio (ormai conosciuta come Serio Everest grazie alla popolarità della sua 42) conta 509 operai, 26 impiegati, 63 agenzie di vendita in Italia, e un indotto costituito da alcune centinaia di meccanici aggiustatori. Nel 1950 la produzione si estende, oltre alle macchine da scrivere, anche alle addizionatrici elettriche a tre operazioni. Alla fine degli anni ’50 inizia una fase di stagnazione dovuta alla scarsa volontà della proprietà di investire nel rinnovamento degli impianti e si giunge, nel 1960, all’acquisizione da parte della Olivetti. Per alcuni anni nulla cambia e la Serio continua a produrre autonomamente la propria linea di prodotti. A cavallo del 1969/70 il marchio Serio sparisce definitivamente e la produzione diviene interamente Olivetti.Segni del tempo. Olivetti Everest K2 C typewriter.
