As he traveled through the land of Israel, Jesus healed the sick. The news of these miracles spread throughout the surrounding villages and towns. And the people brought to him the crippled, the blind, and the deaf, and many others who were sick.
Once Jesus was teaching on the Sabbath. The Sabbath was a day of rest for the Jews. A woman was very sick. For eighteen years she walked bent over and could not stand up. Jesus laid his hands on her and she began to stand up. She was cured!
This made the religious leaders very angry. "There are six days appointed for doing work," shouted one of them to the crowd. "You must come for treatment on these days, not on the Sabbath!"
But Jesus answered: "You are bad people! Even on the Sabbath each one of you will untie his donkey and lead it out to water it. Shouldn't that wretched woman who had been sick eighteen years be healed on the Sabbath?” Jesus' answer put these wicked men to shame.
Then Jesus and his apostles set out for Jerusalem. They were just leaving the city of Jericho when two blind beggars heard that Jesus was passing by. So they cried out, "Jesus, help us!"
Jesus called the blind men to him and asked, "What do you want me to do for you?" They said, "Lord, let our eyes be opened." Jesus touched their eyes and in that instant they received their sight!
