Biography Shiokawa Bunrin (1808-1877) Painter of the late Edo - Meiji period. Studied under Okamoto Toyohiko. Became a central figure of the Shijo School during the Meiji Restoration. He built the foundation of the Meiji Kyoto art world. His students included Kouno Bairei and Nomura Bunkyo.
