DESCRIPTION:
A pendant carved in jade (jadeite) with a rounded bulge, but with a flat design. It is in fact composed of two planes worked with a very low relief, based on incisions. It depicts an anthropomorphic figure kneeling, dressed in a loincloth and with his arms folded in his lap. The head, large in proportion to the body, shows a puckered mouth with thick lips, a prominent round nose and almond-shaped eyes. The figure is adorned with a headdress and earmuffs. It has three suspension holes, so the piece could have hung horizontally, with the face facing downwards, or vertically with the face facing forward, leaving the two lower holes free to hold an additional ornamental element.
