复古寺庙木芥子 - 木 - 日本 - Shōwa period (1926-1989)
编号 84413323
编号 84413323
A very special type of Shingata Kokeshi made around 1970 by an artisan named Shūhōu (or Hidemine).
It has a very interesting depiction on the body, covered with a poem by 土井晩翠 - Doi Bansui.
The poem is called 'Koujo no tsuki' (Moon Over The Ruined Castle).
Even though this doll has acquired a nice dark patina color over the years, the poem and drawings of the moon, castle ruins and red and white flowers are still clear to see.
This doll has no damages.
Size: 25 x 7 x 7 cm.
weight: 300 grams.
Some more interesting info on this particular type of Kokeshi:
This is a Shingata or transitional doll. After WWII several woodworking artists settled in the Sendai area and started making dolls that had similar looks to them, in hopes of starting a new odento style. The look has high grey eyebrows, black half moon eyes, a reverse j nose and a few sweeping strokes indicating hair, usually with a ribbon that looks like a dragonfly when viewed from the top.
