Wim Bos was born in 1906 in Rotterdam.
This is also where he passed away in 1974, after a productive artist’s life. He lived and worked, amongst others, in Rotterdam, Brussels, Antwerp and Paris. He returned to Rotterdam in 1924. Hr was an autodidact. In Rotterdam he wasn’t only inspired by the harbour activities and marine traffic.
Also the works by renowned Rotterdamse painters as Van Mastenbroek, Evert Moll and Marinus Drulman stimulated him to choose harbour activities often as a topic.
He developed his own impressionist style, close to that of Marinus de Jongere. He painted, made watercolours and drew besides harbour views also water views.
His harbour views breath the typical atmosphere of the prewar harbour, with burning coals, screaming stem whistles, rattling anchor chains and peeping and squeezing cranes and hoists.
Will be sent by registered mail. It can also be picked-up in Roosendaal.
