Huge Muonionalusta Metallic meteorite - 22 x 16 x 14 cm - 15.8 Kg
A million years ago, a large size planetoid of metallic composition, hit the north of Scandinavia, in the current Sweden. This meteorite is known by the name of Muonionalusta, and it is up to today, the oldest meteorite from which there is evidence in the Earth. It was discovered for the first time in 1906, and since then it has been possible to recover some specimens, usually of small size.
The specimen of this lot is a spectacular piece, of large size and in perfect state of conservation, in which octahedral crystals can be observed on the outside. The internal structure of this meteorite is "fine octahedrite". A piece worthy of the best museums.
