Two complete copper nested weights - 20th century, Western Europe
Beautiful old nested weights of bronze.
A seven-part and a five-part set.
Both complete and in good condition.
The largest has a lid with the characteristic form of a bull. Origin is presumably Western Europe. The nested weight is complete with 7 precisely matching containers. On the lid the following letters/numbers: U2 - 789 - 56 - 32
Dimensions: 7.5 x 6.3 cm.
The smaller of the 2 has a simpler lid and is complete with 5 containers fitting in each other.
Dimensions: 4.5 x 5 cm.
Nested weights used to be used in pharmacies, they were also used in the currency trade. The distinctive feature of a nested weight is that every containers is precisely as heavy as all small containers that fit inside together.
Beautiful decorative collector’s item.
Both will be shipped very well packed and sent by insured mail with track and trace code.
