'54) was a series of two- and four-part electric trains of the Nederlandse Spoorwegen, named after the year in which the first order is placed. Because of their distinctively shaped nose they were (although not officially) often referred to as 'Hondekop'. (Dog's Head) They could be operated in multi-unit trains together with the other streamlined train types such as the Mat 46, and later also the Mat.57 which was also known as the “BeNeLux Hondekoppen”.
