In good condition, a decorative Dutch Design fruit bowl by the Dutch industrial designer Arnout Visser. This fruit bowl was named 'Fruit on Wheels' and was designed in 1993 and produced by Designum at the time. This is the version from the first production, which we purchased in 1994 from the Bijenkorf. The story behind this fruit bowl is as follows. One night, Arnout Visser was riding his bike through Arnhem when he saw an old, dumped washing machine. He pulled out the door as he was interested in its glass eye. He built a metal frame for underneath, with small swivelling wheels from an old tea trolley, thus creating the first prototype of the 'Fruit on Wheels' fruit bowl. Measurements: height 16.5 cm x diameter 25 cm. Some scratches and stains on the glass and chrome. There is an air bubble in the glass. Also some oxidation on the chrome.
