The type 12 ' Atlantic ' locomotives were the most striking in the Belgian railway history. Just as in the surrounding countries streamlined machines were very much in demand. Their aerodynamic shape rather had to do with suggesting speed than with reducing air resistance.
The locomotive has been tested on driving characteristics.
