Large tapestry celebrating summer, from a series of four works made in 1886 by the famous Czech artist Alfons Mucha, figurehead of the Art Nouveau movement. In these paintings each season is embodied by a woman. This tapestry of great finesse, made in Flanders (Crayes), measures 150cm in height by 70cm in width. It is lined on the back and has a bar which allows it to be hung on a wall. The Craye family business was founded around 1880. Famous for the quality of their velvet in the 70s and Jacquard clothing, they began production for Dior in the Flemish weaving style of the 14th and 15th century, of which they are now world leaders.
