The Otard cognac trading house was founded during the Revolution in 1795 under the name "Otard Dupuy & Cie" by two major owners of the region: Baron Otard Keith de la Grange and Jean Dupuy d'Angeac. In 1796, Otard and Dupuy acquired the Château des Valois de Cognac where François I, King of France in 1494 (sold as a national property during the Revolution) was born. They set up the headquarters of the house and the eaux-de-vie cellars there. When the baron died in 1824, the management was taken over by his sons, then by the heirs. After the Second World War in 1945, the company's name was changed to "Cognac Otard SA", as the family was no longer represented. The Martini & Rossi group, merging with the Bacardi Group in 1992, took control and formed the company "Château de Cognac SA" by grouping together the Otard, Gaston de Lagrange and Exshaw brands. ------------------- Vieux COGNAC Otard Dupuy & C° , three star Chateau de Cognac très rare . La maison de négoce de cognac Otard a été fondée sous la Révolution en 1795 sous le nom de "Otard Dupuy & Cie" par deux grands propriétaires de la région: le baron Otard Keith de la Grange et Jean Dupuy d'Angeac. En 1796, Otard et Dupuy firent l'acquisition du château des Valois de Cognac où nacquit François Ier, Roi de France en 1494 (vendu comme bien national à la Révolution). Ils y installèrent le siège de la maison et des chais d'eaux-de-vie. A la mort du baron en 1824, la direction fut reprise par ses fils, puis par les héritiers. Après la deuxième guerre mondiale en 1945, la raison sociale de la firme devient "Cognac Otard SA", la famille n'étant plus représentée. Le groupe Martini & Rossi, fusionnant avec le Groupe Bacardi en 1992, prend le contrôle et forme la société "Château de Cognac SA" en y regroupant les marques Otard, Gaston de Lagrange et Exshaw.
