A mo'ai kavakava is a small wooden statue of a standing, slightly bent man with a starved body.
These figurines come from Rapa Nui (Easter Island). The name Mo'ai Kavakava comes from Mo'ai for the monumental monolithic human figures found on Easter Island. Little is known about the cultural context of these statues.
This figurine is carved from a heavy yellow wood type "makoi" that has become dark by the patina. and was cut from 1 branch of living wood that had the basic shape of this statuette.
