Louis Kalff - Philips - 燈 - Z model
This lamp was designed by Louis Kalff (1897–1976) and manufactured by Philips. Due to its design this lamp is often indicated as the Z model, but the real model name is "Decora". The lampshade is made of aluminium and it is varnished with a matte black paint. The black colour combines beautifully with the gold colour of the stand. The inside of the lampshade has a light colour to increase the reflection of the light. The lamp is marked with the Philips logo on the lampshade and underneath it.
Besides being a designer, Louis Kalff was also a successful architect. The shape of the lampshade is recognisably in the same design as the Philips exposition centre "Evoluon". The architectural masterpiece by Louis Kalff which was realised in Eindhoven in 1966.
