3 Stunning Scandinavian textured glass 'Pala' vases or candleholders These vases are made in the beautiful colours: light blue, midnight blue and clear glass. Made by Riihimaki (also known as Riihimaen Lasi Oy) of Finland in the 1960's, and designed by Helena Tynell. The light blue one has some very tiny nicks on the rim. Dimensions: light blue Vase H 12,5 cm W 9 cm Midnight blue H 7 cm W 8 cm Clear glass H 6 cm W 5 cm Helena Tynell was a well-known glass artist from Finland. She was born in 1918 and studied Art & Design. In 1943 Helena started working with Riihimäki Lasi. At the same time she got married to Paavo Tynell, the incredible light designer. Like Nanny Still, Helena Tynell was worlwide known for her glass design. The "Pala" design is from 1964 and it has been produced for 10 years. In 1976 she left Finland and moved to Germany where she worked at Glasshutte Limburg. During the next 10 years she stayed in Germany but in 1986 she went back to Finland and in 2016 she died at the age of 97.
