British military machete of the Second World War 1937 SNAKE BRAND, original case and quite sparse machete of the British military jungle of the era of the Second World War dated 1937 in a rare original leather scabbard, also dated 1937.
Manufactured before the outbreak of war by S.J. Kitchin of Sheffield, England.
The case was made by Barrow, Hepburn & Gale Ltd., marked B.H&G. 37 with the mark of the inspector WU on the back.
This type is illustrated on page 109 of the book BRITISH AND COMMONWEALTH MILITARY KNIVES by Ron Flook, an important research project on the subject of British military weapons.
The original vulcanised fibre grips with heavy rivetsmade of copper are in excellent condition without cracks or splinters; the hilt is tight with zero slack. The blade has been sharpened several times, but not too hard;
The hilt is engraved with the inspector's mark of Ricasso. Comes with the right principles of B.H&G. black scabbard leather with 5 copper rivets on the throat; dated 1937. The scabbard is in perfect condition for the type; all seams and rivets are intact and tight; It's just fine.
WW2 military ear machete early difficult to find in a great preservation condition.
