Jos (Johannes) van Dijk was born on the 23rd of December 1913 in Bolsward, and died in 2000 in Groningen. He worked in Amsterdam as well as other places. He was a pupil of H.A. van der Wal (Amsterdam), of the drawing teachers training college and of the Rijksacademie in Amsterdam. He painted, drew and etched figures, portraits, landscapes, harbours and many barnyards. In later life, the quality of his paintings increased and he developed his own style, which especially in the view of the skies is evident.
