11 luk Naga Keris (Kris) from Bali.
Beautiful, large 11 luk (curved) Keris from Bali (Indonesia), which has a clear pamor (damask like pattern).
This is caused by the technique of forging various types of iron in layers by the Empu (traditional Keris blacksmith).
Furthermore there are floral motifs on both sides and a Naga* (dragon) is incorporated in the blade. This makes it a very special Keris (higher class).
*Naga is the mythical snake dragon that has an important place in Indonesia and especially in Bali:
Naga (supernatural being)
Nāga (Sanskrit:नाग) is the Sanskrit and Pali word for a class of supernatural creatures in Buddhism and Hinduism, which often assume the appearance of a snake or dragon.
The Nagas possess, according to Hinduism, a divine Pearl of Knowledge.
Nagas often take the function of guard. They often also guard sacred relics of Buddha or his disciples.
This special Naga Keris is in a beautiful wooden Kojongan sheath (warangka Sandang Walikat). This is a quite rare form in Bali, a very nice wood drawing, which is only used for the best Keris.
The total length of the Keris in the sheath: 57 cm, the Keris itself (the blade) is 37 cm.
