Truly a unique Peugeot 403 U5 Commerciale from 1959. This large car is 100% original and never restored. Original paint, upholstery, engine, gearbox, etc.. The first owner is known (the papers include a ticket from the first owner) and full maintenance history available in the included book. Recorded since it was delivered new in 1959 until the 80s. The car then ended up in a barn with some broken leaf springs and hasn't seen any daylight for 40 years. Rescued from a dry barn, it came to the Netherlands 2 years ago. It was lovingly restored there by 2 enthusiasts. The engine and gearbox are in excellent condition and were properly maintained until the 1980s, they were repaired where necessary. The paint has a beautiful patina, especially the roof has very nice wear. The rest of the body has some scratches and dents which give the car a unique character. The car has been professionally cleaned and polished both inside and out. The original interior is completely neat except for a small hole, it has been checked by a professional upholsterer (a few stitches were restored). The broken leaf springs have been recreated by a specialist company. The entire underside of the car has been cleaned, it has had an anti-rust treatment (rock-hard and never welded). All rotating parts have been overhauled or replaced. The entire braking system has been renewed (including honing of the drums and the original brake shoes with new lining). New Michelin XZX all around. Dust covers replaced, crankshaft and cardan disassembled, new oil seals and oil. Various small things replaced such as original wipers, an original headlight glass, etc. A 123 ignition has been fitted and all regular maintenance has been done. Approved by the Dutch vehicle authority (RDW) and passed with flying colours. This car has character that cannot be replicated, you can only get this after 60 years of use and storage. Things such as door rubbers and some finishes are slightly dried out, however they do contribute to the car’s character. All could have been replaced, but deliberately not done. The original roof rack is also still in perfect condition. The car was kept as original as possible. It drives perfectly, everything works properly. Lots of cargo space and it easily fits 5 to 6 people. The car is in The Hague, the Netherlands, and can be viewed by appointment.
