Cuba - 3 notes from 1961 with the signature of Che Guevara on them - 1, 5 and 10 pesos

Cuba - 3 notes from 1961 with the signature of Che Guevara on them - 1, 5 and 10 pesos - Pick 94a-95a-96a Following the Cuban revolution the authorities famously appointed Che Guevara as president of The National Bank of Cuba. Guevara often told the story of how he got the job of bank president. Fidel Castro had asked if there were any economist (economists) in the room and he had put his hand up, much to Castro’s surprise, because he had thought Castro said acomunista (communist). This was somewhat ironic as Guevara outright condemned money and favoured its abolition. He then showed his disdain by signing banknotes with his nickname “Che” which horrified many in the Cuban financial sector. He was president of the bank for 456 days. There were five types of notes with his signature on issued in 1960. 5,10,20,50 and 100pesos. And six in 1961. 1,5,10,20,50 and 100 pesos. Many of these notes of the same design continued to be printed and circulated up to the end of the 1980’s but not with his signature on. Here I am offering for sale three of the notes from 1961. One, Five and Ten pesos. All three in un-circulated condition.
