After graduating with his degree in law, Allegret became secretary of Andre Gide. Allegret’s first movie "Voyage au Congo" (1926) was produced when he accompanied Gide on his expedition to Africa In 1931 Allegret began making his own movies. In 1934, his legendary movie “Zou-Zou” with Joesephine Baker was produced. He produced 25 more movies until 1969. He was known as the man who discovered the movie actress Brigit Bardot. Marc Allegret was a true collector of ethnographic objects and photos as well as nude photography. Part of his photo collection was auctioned off at the end of the 1980s in Paris. This photo was part of this particular auction. Allegret unfortunately had a very fatal habit: he used a glue typical for that period to glue the photos on sheets of white paper. That is why almost all photos from the former collection of Allergen have remainders of glue on the back.
