Impressive and large icon full of intricate gilt brass floral leafs that intertwine eachother with grace. Also, a very detailed oklad protects the finelly executed painting. Iconography: The Mother of God is shown frontal, with her hands raised in the orans position covered by the maphorion and the chiton clothes. Christ is shown within a round aureole upon her breast. Christ is blessing with his right hand and holding the globe in his left hand. This iconography is a derivation of Isaiah's prophecy: "The Lord himself will give you a sign, a Virgin will conceive a Son and his name will be Emmanuel" It has somewhat “hard to explain” divine aura with a golden glow which makes it very special. A rare collector item. Condition: In good condition, glass of th cabinet is missing, some parts of the brass oklad show signs of oxidation, painting in great condition.
