1995 vintage Despite being a dry year, the adequate distribution of rain throughout the year, the good flowering, perfect ripening and unbeatable health condition in which the grapes entered the wineries, thanks to the good weather that accompanied the entire development of the harvest , provided Rioja not only with excellent quality, but also with a new production record, which until then was held by the 1985 harvest. After a very mild autumn and winter with average temperatures above the levels of recent years, the weeping of the vineyard began at the end of January and the bud break at the beginning of March, which represented a phenological advance of about 20 to 30 days. With a summer that is low in rainfall and good in terms of temperatures, in mid-July the grapes are already ripening throughout the Middle and Lower Rioja, with the vineyard showing an advance of 20 days at the end of August. However, in the month of September there was little light, low night temperatures and quite a few days of little rain, factors that, together with the high amount of grapes per vine, caused a delay in ripening.
