Breathtaking statue of seated Amida Nyorai (Amitabha) 阿弥陀仏, Buddha of infinite light and life Japan, late Heian to early Kamakura (12th-13th century) Very old and highly detailed gold lacquered wooden Japanese Buddhist statue in remarkable condition given the age. See for example the beautiful serene face and lotus throne with detailed petal lappets. Amida sits with its hands in Dhyana Meditation Mudra or Contemplation Mudra. Signs of aging, see photos. E.g. this Buddha statue used to have small deities attached. The one on top is still present. Dimensions approx.: 37 cm high, 16,5 cm wide, depth 13,5 cm Amida is a celestial buddha and possesses infinite merits resulting from good deeds over countless past lives.
