Beautiful mask of the Ngbaka people liviing in the Ubangi River Region of the Democratic epuublic of Congo.
The heart-shaped mask is called Daggara by the Ngbaka.
It has been used during initiation and circumcision ceremonies of the tribe.
The patina is excellent.
The last photo is a famous mask which you can find in the book UBANGI of Jan-Lodewijck Grootaers.
Material: wood, metal teeth, pearl-shell eyes, pigment.
Scarification from the forehead over the nose.
