古埃及,後期 非常罕見的彩陶索貝克-阿蒙 Amulet - 6 cm

A very rare egyptian, dark green, faience amulet that presents a syncretism between the god Sobek and the god Amun. It presents the elongated body of a crocodile with the raised head of a ram that easily identifies with the god Amun. Very well executed with incised details, on integral base. Holed for suspension under the ram's head. Crocodiles were dangerous animals, but Sobek, the divinity depicted in this amulet, was a benevolent water deity. The Nile issuing from his sweat made the valley productive, and as a fertility god he was linked to the myth surrounding rebirth in the afterlife. | Egypt. Late Period. 664-332 BC The piece includes old certificate of Jean & Huguette Ramié, « Archeologie-Arts-primitifs »,Cannes. 27 June 1986. Dimensions: 6,00 cm. Condition: Restored behind the tail ( see pictures), otherwise intact in good condition. Similar example: Israel Museum. Accession number: 97.63.80 Provenance: Collection of Madame E. Andrey. Acquired at Jean & Huguette Ramié, Cannes, in 1986. Notes: The piece will include spanish export license for the European Union and authenticity certificate. If the piece is sold outside the European Union a new export license will be requested by the seller. This process can take between 2 and 4 weeks.
