A late Ming period dish, Tianqi period (1620-1627) for the Japanese Market. So called Ko-Sometsuke ware or "Old dyed Blue and White". The dish is decorated with a scene of clam amidst crashing waves. Which could be derived from a inkcake design in Fang shi mo pu ; 方氏墨譜 ; liu juan ; 六卷 made by Fang, Yulu, active 1570-1619. See example in the photo's.
