Extraordinary, unique and rare ceramic sculpture.
The statue is rich in detail, the lady is extremely well crafted. The statue is beautiful. Because of its large size, the sculptor was able to work out the lady's lines and proportions in detail.
Designed by: Székelykeresztúri Horváth Árpád
Production: 1933
Very little is known about the life of Árpád Horváth. Pain and suffering are the main themes in his works.
Only one public sculpture was made. The 7-meter-high, monumental work depicted a mustachioed Hungarian man standing out from a pile of three, tied to a double cross, suffering at the stake. The statue is believed to have been removed after World War II.
In a 1933 fine arts magazine, there is also a bust of a little girl that he made and which was exhibited in the gallery.
Nice condition!
No breaks, no cracks!
