An illuminated Persian manuscript page written in what appears to be a mix of elegant Ta'liq (verse headers) and Nasta'liq (main script), with a beautiful illuminated headpiece and title header in white Tuluth within a gold cartouche frame with delicate floral embellishment. The header surround is in celestial dark blue with more prominent floral decoration and a solid frame surround in red and green. The illumination above the header is equally decorative - almost ornamental - with gold and blue islands with floral embellishment. Finials extend from the headpiece to the top of folio.
The script comprises four columns with a header in red cutting across the two central columns. The whole is bordered by gold, red and blue framing lines with the exception of the top horizontal which has a single thin blue line across it.
This is an interesting folio representing the calligraphic developments that took place in Persia with the formulation of Tal'iq (hanging) script and its descendant Nasta'liq characterised by exaggerated density in the superstructure letters.
