Orthoceras ["straight" (ortho) "horn" (ceras)"] nautiloids were present on earth for more than 250 million years, from the Ordovicium (460 million years ago) until their extinction in the Late-Trias (210 million years ago).
Orthoceras fossils are the remains of an invertebrate, that belongs to the phylum Mollusca, which includes the snails, slugs, oysters, clams, octopuses and squids. Further taxonomic levels are: class Cephalopoda, order Orthocerida, family Orthoceratidae, genus Orthoceras. The only species Orthoceras regulare was taxonomically described by Schlotheim in 1820.
These fascinating fossils will be carefully packaged and shipped by registered mail with insurance and track & trace code.
