Grand Cru Classe. Second label of Chateau Laroque. Laroque is a vast estate (nearly 60 hectares) located on the Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes plateau east of Saint-Emilion. The 17th century castle is absolutely superb. It is now David Suire, right-hand man of Nicolas Thienpont (Pavie-Macquin), who is in charge of winemaking. The blackbird flourishes wonderfully there drawing all the water and nutrients it needs to reach full maturity every year. It is generally found around 95% in the large cuvée of the castle, accompanied by its faithful companion, the cabernet franc. The harvest is obviously manual and the parcel vinifications in order to respect the specificities of each terroir. The extractions are soft in small concrete tanks, allowing the wine to keep all its crunch. Special feature for the region, the breeding is reductive (on fine lees) and lasts about a year in oak barrels
