Louis XVI, dore bronze, ormolu and marble, four-handed calendar mantel clock with complications for the calendar days, month and the days of the week, made by Piolaine à Paris, circa 1790-1800. Michel-François Piolaine, received master watchmaker in 1787 Michel-Francois Piolaine was one of the foremost Parisian clockmakers of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. A clock by this maker is in the Royal Collection at Windsor Palace. Michel-François Piolaine became a master clockmaker in 1787. He is recorded working in 1789 in the Rue des Ecrivains, and from 1798 until 1810 in the Rue des Gravilliers. French Clock dials are known to be signed by 'Piolane a Paris', Rue St. Desni (1815), Rue du Temple (1817) and again Rue St. Denis (1830).
