You are bidding on an amazing old 4/4 violin, labeled "Rue de Bussy N 30 Faub St Germain pres la rue de Seine a Paris ALDRIC luthier fait violon alto violoncelle et guitare".
Condition:
Some tears and wears to original golden amber varnish, no cracks to the corpus, small old repaired crack on the scroll.
Description:
Good quality high to medium grained spruce was chosen for the top, and the maple of the two pieces back with beautiful wide grain is softly flamed. Narrow flamed sides, neck and scroll. The purfling is a tasteful work of good craftsmanship, just as the shining, golden brown varnish. Old ebony set up, new bridge and new strings, the violin is ready to play. The whole length of the violin is 585 mm and the back 354 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 166 mm; middle bouts: 114 mm; lower bouts: 206 mm. Full size.
