Back in 1952-53 Carl Barks had begun to doubt that the popularity of the Duckburg characters would last. Therefore, he began to develop his own comic and character universe (with strong inspiration from the popular ducks), so that he had something to ‘fall back on’.
Barks named the comic Pip Squeeks, but it never got past this early concept stage. Today, there is not much surviving evidence that Barks toyed with the idea of creating his own comic, making this preliminary pencil artwork a very rare find.
This original drawing is professionally framed and matted to a total size of approx. 40 x 50 cm and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticty from Gallery Disneyana+.
