A very rare effigy jar in the shape of a schematically-rendered ithyphallic man, seated and holding his oversized penis. The male - probably a supernatural personage related to fertility rites - is wearing a simple headdress and has a cord around his neck on which a tumi ceremonial knife is attached. Chimu, Peru, 900-1470 CE

Donated to "The Museum of Islamic Art", Jerusalem, during 1970's. Purchased by Yossef Maiman 1991. Estate of Yossef Maiman.
