Ancient Roman Silver Ring with Intaglio of an Eagle
Circa 2nd-3rd century AD
This silver ring features a flat-section hoop with a raised bezel cell set with a carnelian stone intaglio engraved with a head of an eagle.
In ancient Rome, eagles often represented power, strength, and authority. The Roman military extensively used eagle standards, known as "aquilae," as symbols of legionary cohorts.
