This is a small copper temple bell believed to have been made around 200 years ago. It features depictions of phoenixes and dragons. While the dragon may also resemble a lion, it is unclear exactly what animal it represents. However, similar carvings of phoenixes and dragons can be found on bronze basins from the same era that I have seen before. The intricate floral patterns at the bottom of the bell are also characteristic of that period. These can be considered symbols of an ancient era. Furthermore, the basin's creator is a famous late Edo-period metalworker named Murata Seimei, and I have seen many similar carvings on basins made by Murata Seimei. This temple bell was likely made sometime between the late Edo period (1761-1837). Considering its age, the condition is very good.
